In the latest week, sales reached £2.20b which is £38m higher than last year. Since the “Eat Out to Help Out” scheme has started we have seen a gradual decline in sales, this week looks to have had a notable impact – around 64 million meals have been claimed in the first 3 weeks. Last years sales this week have seen an increase due to the Saturday in the Bank Holiday Weekend falling in this period.
Total Store sales +1.7% vs year ago with Grocery growth +1.5% and Non Food growth +2.6%
An Additional £38m has been spent in the latest week driven by an increased Grocery spend of £25m and £13m in Non Food
Overall sales fell -2.7% this week compared to last week with Grocery sales down -3.0% and Non Food sales down -1.7%
